| The Basics | |

Date & Time: |
Sunday 16 October, either morning or afternoon. Once the draw is completed, teams will be given a specific time slot and will be racing for about 1.5 hours. First race 10.30 am. Top 2 teams from each round go back for finals approx - 4.45pm. |
Venue: |
North City Indoor Raceway - Porirua, with NZ's fastest indoor sprint karts and one of NZ's longest tracks. Click here for map |
Teams: |
Teams of 3, each member to do a total of 30 laps, over 60 mins |
Event: |
• 90 multi-lap enduro event • No previous experience or Drivers Licence necessary • Top team from each race will be able to come back for finals and have another race!!! |
Rules: |
• Le Mans start - first driver runs to kart, once seat belt is on starts driving! • Teams must be at the venue no later than 15min before briefing time • All Team members must be at the briefing as this is an OSH requirement • All drivers must have enclosed foot wear, long hair and loose clothing must be confined. • The winner of each race qualifies for the final which will be run at the end of racing • 8 Teams in a race with only 1 member of each team racing at a time • Three drivers in each team. • Each race will consist of 90 Laps with driver changes every 10 laps • Do up your belt and give way to oncoming traffic. • Hand Signals must be used when entering the pit to show other drivers you are exiting the track. • You must also pull to the left hand side of the track as you are approaching the pit entry; Enter the pit slowly (1/2 speed), and park behind the last in line. • The sequence continues until the chequered flag. • On seeing the flag, the race is over for all teams and your driver on the track should return to the pits as normal. • The first or lead driver will be given the chequered flag to complete a victory lap. • The total number of laps driven, minus any penalties determines the winners. • DO NOT GIVE UP! The lead team on the track does not always win race! • The track marshal will deal with Kart damage or breakdowns at the time. • STAY IN YOUR KART until he tells you if it can be repaired for you to carry on or return to the pit area for another kart. • If black-flagged return immediately to the pits • No smoking in any area. • No alcohol before or during the event |
Penalties: |
(1 Penalty = drive into pits, stop in penalty box for given time) • Aggressive track behaviour • Shunting the karts in pits • AMBER & RED Lights • Entering gate too early • Incorrect lap change • Failing to slow for pit entry • Not giving way exiting pits • 1/2 speed pit lane • Right of way rule • Seat Belt |

NB: Team composition rules must be complied with e.g. only organisation/company members and their immediate families and partners are allowed to enter (NO "RING INS") otherwise you will may be disqualified.
