Saturday, 15 October – Daytona Raceway Lower Hutt
Paintball took place on a stormy Saturday morning at Daytona Raceway, the same venue as where we had the Go Karting event.
Defending champions, Wellington City Council, were back this year and from the start, asserted their dominance. Their “blitzkrieg” style of play, where players would rush forward in a fast display of accurate, all-out attack was effective in crushing the opposition. No other teams could match WCC’s intensity and attacking-style, so with seven wins from seven matches, WCC easily kept their Business Games Paintball title.
In second place, Te Puni Kokiri secured four wins from seven matches, succumbing only to WCC twice and Fronde once.
Fronde, despite beating second-placed Te Puni Kokiri, suffered two upset defeats to Fujitsu and Civil Aviation Authority in the last two rounds which left them two points shy of third.
Thanks to all teams for taking part in this fantastic event. Hopefully we can find some worthy opposition for Wellington City Council in next year’s Paintball event!
